24 Sep 2007 - Newsletter September 2007
Dear Parents,
As you can see I am reverting to a more simple letter layout for this newsletter. I found the boxes rather cumbersome to re-arrange, especially working to a tight deadline on the first day back, hence the ?not-so-deliberate? mistakes in the last one-my apologies!
Achievement Assemblies
The first of these took place this morning. Well done to the the following children, who received Special Achievement Awards:
Y1-Hugh Gough-Rundle Y2- Ailish Jordan Y3-Ryan Sowden, Hannah Weaver
Y4-Katie Harris, Harry Chudleigh Y5- Joshua Kerr, Jack Shepherd
Y6 Rowan Godsland, Catherine Cairney
Infant ?Stars of the Week? were: Y1-Charlotte Cutting Y2- Sam Harte
If your child takes part in activities outside of school, swimming, dance, sport or music etc, and they receive a certificate, if they would like to bring it to the office on Thursday, it can be presented to them during Achievement Assembly. We would love to celebrate their success and achievement. The next assembly will be Friday 21st September.
Health and Safety
I would like to remind parents that, due to the narrowness of the lane, which has no pavement, and the lack of parking facilities in school, they are not allowed to drive up the lane to the school at the beginning and end of the school day. I do appreciate this is not very convenient, however, the safety of our pupils, their younger siblings and parents, is paramount. The school has an arrangement with Tesco?s supermarket, so that parents are able to park there and walk up to school. Also, there are some parking permits available for the parish car park. To apply for one, you need to contact theParish Office.
The Governors and myself are raising the problems of access to the Rosary School with the County Council. I will keep you informed of any developments.
First Communion
The forms, for children who want to prepare for their First Communion in Y3 ?Y6, are available from the school office.
School Dinners
Please could parents make sure that they pay for the week?s dinners altogether, preferably on Monday, but no later than Friday of that week, so the cost of one week?s dinners is paid before the start of the next week. Cheques should be made payable to SODEXHO.
Absence
If your child will not be attending school through illness, please ring the office by 9.30am. Messages can be left on the answer phone. If your child has a dental or doctor?s appointment, the class teacher does need a letter confirming this, with the relevant date and time. Thank you for your co-operation.
?World?s Biggest Coffee Morning? for Macmillan Cancer Research
Mrs. Humphery, one of our Teaching Assistants, would like to thank everyone for their support for her coffee morning last year in aid of this charity. She has asked me to invite you to another event, as part of the ?World?s Biggest Coffee Morning? campaign, on Friday 28th September from 2p-4pm in the school hall. Please bring and buy home-made cakes on that day. Mmmm, lovely cakes?..
J-John-Just 10
Father David has asked me to invite you to a series of entertaining, but challenging DVD presentations by J-John on the Ten Commandments. I have heard J-John speak myself, he is very funny, as well as thought-provoking. The presentations take place Sunday evenings from 7-8.30pm, starting on 16th September, until 18th November, in the Pastoral Centre. If you cannot make the whole series, just come to some. See the notice board for details of the different topics.
Here, as promised, are some key dates for you to put in your diaries for this term.
So, a busy term lies ahead. I hope it will be a happy, successful one for us all.
Regards,
Mrs R. Savory
